Congregational Learning Fund for Leaders

About the Fund

The Congregational Learning Fund for Leaders is a funds-based resource from Pacific Mountain Regional Council that aims to supplement (up to $500) costs incurred by lay leaders and ministry personnel when attending (approved) leadership development events (courses, workshops, conferences).

The fund is dedicated to only those serving a community of faith or ministry within the Pacific Mountain Regional Council, and for events that focus on the goals of Pacific Mountain Regional Council, towards:

Healthy communities of faith and ministries
Effective leadership
Faithful public witness.

Who Can Apply?

  • Lay leaders, paid or volunteer, serving a ministry within the Pacific Mountain Regional Council

  • Ministry personnel, paid or other, serving a ministry within the Pacific Mountain Regional Council

Grant Limits & Considerations

  • The maximum grant per person per calendar year is $500.

  • The maximum grant per community of faith, per event is $2,000 (if 4 or more leaders from one community of faith apply to this fund to attend the same event).

  • Priority will be given to leaders who have disproportionate travel costs due to geographic location, as well as those with limited financial resources.  

Releasing of Grant Funds

Generally speaking, the event registration, travel, and/ or other costs are the upfront responsibility of the applicant.

  • After an application is approved, and before funds are released, you will be required to submit receipts related to the costs of you attending the approved event.

  • When receipt submission is satisfied, the granted funds will be released to you by Electronic Funds Transfer. 

If delayed payment will inhibit your capacity to attend the event, please contact Jes Beckerley at leadershift@united-church.ca with the details of your need.

Application Deadline

Applications will be considered as they are received, and until the fund is depleted for the year (January 1 - December 31, 2024).

    A signature is required from the M&P Committee for ministry personnel applicants.

    A signature is required from the Governing Board or Council for lay leader applicants.
